03/12/2014 - EMI hosts a visit from the Earl of Yarborough and Mayor of Gainsborough

November 24th saw East Midlands Instrument Company (EMI) host a visit from the Earl of Yarborough and Mayor of Gainsborough.

Founded in 1966 employing over 180 people, EMI is an electrical, instrumentation and mechanical contractor for the power generation, power distribution, rail, process and major hazards industries. Split in to three divisions EMI offer site installation services, a mechanical workshop producing safety critical fittings for the rail industry and an electrical workshop producing control panels and cable looms for the power and rail industry.

Keven Bingham, MD of EMI said “We were delighted to host a visit from the Earl of Yarborough and Mayor of Gainsborough late November. After sponsoring an event in Gainsborough, Mick Tinker kindly introduced me to the Earl of Yarborough. Following that introduction it was quickly realised we all had a shared interest in engineering activities across the region which resulted in a site visit being organised.”

Steve Wharton Electrical Workshop Manager at EMI said “We introduced the company and the activities EMI are involved in. EMI’s value is associated with the bespoke nature of our work, however consistency of quality is paramount.”

Earl of Yarborough said “It was surprising to see the range of products EMI produce and how they can be installed all over the world for a range of applications. Good to see engineering excellence being delivered from Gainsborough.”

The visit ended with a tour of the electrical workshop, with plenty of questions being raised throughout the discussions.
